The battle for which four schools will represent Lagos in season five of the Channels Indomie National Kids Cup began on Wednesday with the preliminary games for the Lagos centre at two different venues.

A total of 44 goals were recorded in day one of the preliminary games.

St Stephen Primary School beat Wisdom Builders Nursery and Primary School from Ikorodu by two goals to nil.

Efforts Will Nursery and Primary School beat Eben-Noble Children School 4-nil.

Pedo Learning Field and St. Francis had to settle for penalties and both side played out a goalless draw and Pedo Learning Field school emerged victorious in the shoot-out 5-4.

Toyibat and Green Haven progressed to the next round without kicking the ball thanks to a walk over after Methodist Primary School were disqualified for fielding ineligible players and Isaac Ville did not turn up for their game.

At Olusosun Primary School, Christ Assembly fired warning signal that they could be the trophy favourite as they fired five 12 pass Cross and Cresent.

St. Bernadite edged out Gemate Nursery and Primary school 2-nil.

Rybeka Model School defeated Future Kids 3 goals to one, while Goodness and Mercy beat Temidire two nil.

Holy Trinity School defeated Don Men School by 4 goals, while Tadel had a walk over Isaac Whelgar.

Thursday’s fixtures

Meanwhile, action will resume on Thursday as ST. Stephen will take on Efforts Will Nursery and Primary School.

Toyibat Nursery and Primary School, Gbagada will tackle Green Haven Nursery and Primary School, Isheri north.

Pedo Learning Field School, Ikorodu will take on Ago-Egba Primary School, Ebute Metta.

Christ Assembly Primary School, Olodi-Apapa will take on St. Bernadite School, Ipaja, while Rybeka Model Schools, Olodi-apapa will face Goodness and Mercy Private School.

Tadel Private School will play Holy Trinity Primary School for a place in the final round.

Opebi Primary School, Ikeja hosted Group A and B matches in the Lagos zonal qualifiers while Olusosun Primary School, Ikeja hosted Group C.

The tournament will see 16 primary schools from 12 states of the federation go head to head for the trophy.

The participating states include Lagos, Edo, Delta, Akwa Ibom and Ogun states.  Others are Osun, Abia, Niger, Rivers, Kaduna, Oyo, Jigawa and Ekiti states.
