The Vice Chancellor of the Ekiti State University, Professor Oladipo Aina, has denied the rumour that the school authority is planning to increase the fees paid in the university.

While addressing journalists in the state capital, Ado Ekiti, the Vice Chancellor said the school has no intention of increasing the fees but still stands by its new policy of ”No School Fees, No Lecture”.

He explained that the policy became necessary because the students were owing the school close to N2 billion even before he became the Vice Chancellor of the university.

Also reacting on behalf of the students of the university, a student union official, Bamidele Kolawole, said that the new policy of the school is unacceptable to the students of the university and they will continue to protest.

Numbering about 1,500, the students on Thursday protested the new policy, barricading the university main gate and denying both members of staff and visitors access into the school.
