Governor Tanko Al-Makura of Nasarawa State has commissioned the state’s first digital radio and television stations.

In what is In compliance with requirements of the International Broadcasting Organisation and the National Broadcasting Commission, the state owned broadcast stations were upgraded from analogue to digital system ahead of the 2015 deadline.

The newly installed digital radio and television studios equipment, were inspected Governor Tanko Al-Makura of Nasarawa as he charged the management of the broadcast stations to ensure proper maintenance of the equipment.

Addressing a gathering at the opening ceremony in Lafia, the Nasarawa state capital, governor Al-Makura described the complete digital migration of the Nasarawa State broadcasting service as a milestone in the history of broadcasting in Nigeria.

The governor said the migration to digital broadcasting is an opportunity to upgrade the station to narrow the communication gap with the people and to meet international broadcast standards.

Prior to this development, the signals of the state owned radio and television stations were restricted to just the state capital, a situation the government believes that the system upgrade will improve the signals of the station greatly.

The State Government has promised to reposition the Nasarawa publishing company limited and the State Government printing press to complement the services of the Nasarawa Broadcast Service.
