The Supreme Court has dismissed five of its workers for allegedly being involved in the leaking and selling of a judgment that was to be delivered to a litigant.

Also sacked along with them by the Federal Judicial Service Commission (FJSC) was one Stephen Izonebi a staff of the Court of Appeal, Abuja division involved in the same scam.

The dismissed apex court workers were said to have leaked and sold a judgment to be delivered to Senator Alphosus Uba Igbeke who was locked in a fierce legal battle with Mrs Margery Okadigbo, widow of former Senate President over a senatorial seat of Anambra in the Senate.

Igbeke who lost the case had on the judgment date published the judgment in one national dally which embarrassed the apex court authorities.

The leakage of the court verdict was however traced to the dismissed workers when their mobile phones were subjected to forensic examinations and found to have had telephone conversation and text messages with Igbeke.

The affected Supreme Court and Appeal Court workers include Mr Russell Ndenu, Mr Nathaniel Abraham, Mr Olayinka Abiodun, Mr Bada Kayode, Mr Festus Ilurimi, and Mr Stephen Izonebi of the Court of Appeal.

Meanwhile, the Federal Judicial Service Commission has requested the Minister of Justice and the Attorney General of the Federation Mr Bello Adoke to further investigate the motive behind the leakage and possibly take legal action against Senator Alphonsus Igbeke and Mr Collins Okechukwu for allegedly masterminding the leaked undelivered judgment of the Supreme Court.
