For his contribution to fight for the total eradication of polio in Kogi state, Governor Idris Wada has been formally honoured as the Best Performing Governor in Immunization in north-central zone.

Presenting the governor with the Nigeria Governor Immunization Leadership Challenge/Bill and Melinda Gates Award in Lokoja, the Director, National Health Care Development Agency, Ado Mohammed, who  represented the minister for heath said Governor Wada has perform well in terms of routing immunization in Kogi state.

The program took place at the Banquet Hall of the Government House.

While delivering his opening speech, the state commissioner for health, Idris Omede commended the governor for his commitment towards repositioning health care service delivery in the state and re-echoed the administration resolve to sustain the current polio free status in the state

Mr  Mohammed while presenting the award to governor congratulated him for his feat, while reiterating the federal government’s resolve towards ensuring the lives of children and mothers are protected from preventable diseases and cases.

Governor Wada, who described the award as a wakeup call for his administration to intensify efforts, also attributed the success to the collective effort of all stake holders in the health sector and residents of the state.

He also thanked the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation for supporting the polio challenge globally with their resources while promising not to rest until Kogi state becomes the model for primary health care delivery.
