In a bid to reinvigorate the state government policy formulation and implementation machinery for optimum service delivery at the grassroots, the Ogun state governor, Ibikunle Amosun has sworn in 20 consultants on local government affairs.

At the ceremony held at the cinema hall of the June 12 cultural centre in Abeokuta, the state capital, the governor charged the consultant to see their appointment as a call to serve and not to create unnecessary rivalry with their local government chairmen

The consultants who were drawn from the 20 local government areas of the state are expected to constantly give progress reports on ongoing projects in their respective local governments and other functions that government as may be assigned to them from time to time

The local government as the third tier of government remained the closest to the people at the grassroots and in order to give impetus for quality service delivery, the idea of consultants to the governor on local government was initiated to strengthen implementation machinery towards critical emerging challenges in all the local governments

He also warned them not to create unnecessary rivalry with their respective local government chairmen, saying the development of their local government must be their priority.
