The Osun state government said it will be sponsoring 40 youths to the state of Saxony-Anhalt, Germany for intensive agricultural training and food production technology, so as to increase food production for local consumption as well as exportation.

The 40 trainees selected after several examinations on merit will sent to Saxony-Anhalt in Germany for intensive course in an agricultural training school where they will be exposed to the rudiments of modern agriculture and food crop production techniques.

At a send-forth  ceremony for Batch A of 20 out  of the 40 trainees in Osogbo the state capital , Governor Rauf Aregbesola, restated his administration’s commitment to raise agriculture from subsistence to mechanised farming.

Governor Rauf Aregbesola said the state is investing N127m on the first batch of 20 trainees to revolutionise agriculture in the state under the Osun Rural Enterprise and Agriculture Programme (O’REAP).

With the monetary and human capacity Committed by  government of the state of Osun into taking farming  from subsistence level to modern commercial farming, it is hoped that Osun will very soon be the food basket of the Nation.

The first batch of the trainees will be away in Germany for three months, after which the batch B will proceed for the same duration.
