A legal practitioner, George Eke, on Monday advised the Peoples Democratic Party to set up a mechanism that will monitor members and their activities.

Mr. Eke who spoke against the backdrop of the recent developments in the ruling party, maintained that the governors (who formed a faction from the PDP) have been consulting without talking to President Jonathan.

Mr. Eke who was speaking on Channels Television breakfast programme, Sunrise Daily, commended the former president, Olusegun Obansanjo, for intervening in the situation by going to see President Jonathan, adding that the crisis is a family matter that can be resolved.

Mr. Eke pointed out that the dissenting governors want their own party and cannot sustain a faction of PDP, and may eventually leave the party.

He said that the factional party is not registered by INEC or by the constitution and “you don’t become a party by press conference”.
