The Code of Conduct Tribunal (CCT) has asked the former minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), General Jeremiah Useni, to appear before it on November 27, 2013, thirteen years after the Federal Government of Nigeria instituted a suit against him.

The Chairman of the Tribunal, Justice Ibrahim Umar, who acknowledged that General Useni was sick,was however of the opinion that if he could attend to his health needs both within and outside the country, he should be brought to court by any means available to give answer to the charges against him.

General Useni, who was represented at the tribunal by his counsel, Mr Victor Odjemu, told the court that he had been suffering from ill health for a while.

The 5-count charge instituted by the Federal Government include that General Useni on assumption of office in 1993, four years after and at the end of his tenure failed to declare his assets and liability contrary to Section 15 of the Code of Conduct Bureau Act.

He is also accused of acquiring properties and issuing rights of occupancy numbering up to twenty –three in the different parts of the federal capital territory while as minister and public servant contrary to Section 5 of the Code of Conduct Bureau Act.

General Useni is also accused of participating in the management of four companies under the Tim Tali Group and three oil companies contrary to Section 6 of the Code of Conduct Bureau Act and laws guiding the public service of the Federal Republic of Nigeria while serving as a minister of the FCT.
