The people of Eggon in Doma, Lafia and Nasararwa Eggon Federal Constituencies of Nasarawaoftate say they are not in support of the All Progressives Congress (APC) Lawmakers who recently defected from the APC to Peoples Democratic Party (PDP)defected lawre insisting that they gave their mandates to Honourable Joseph Kigbu and Honourable David Emmanuel on the platform of the defunct Congress for Progressive Change, one of the political parties that merged to form the APC, and not the PDP.

During a solidarity visit to Governor Tanko Al-Makura at the Government House in Lafia, the people expressed worries over what they considered as a “misrepresentation” by their elected representatives.

Several defections have been recorded in the National Assembly, with majority defecting from the PDP to the APC. The defections by lawmakers began after five governors of the PDP defected to the APC due to controversies the party’s leadership failed to resolve.

It is not clear whether the electorates will exercise their constitutional right to withdraw the mandate of any elected representative they feel is not repreesenting them well.

It is the first time electorates have distanced themselves from a defected lawmaker since the ‘politics of defection’ began Late last year.
