pdp logoThe leadership of the Ogun State chapter of the People’s Democratic Party, PDP, has denied any planned merger with the Labour Party of Nigeria, LP, in the build up to the 2015 general elections.

This indication was given by the Chairman of the party in the state, Mr Bayo Dayo, in Ota, Ado Odo/Ota Local Government Area of the state while receiving about 2,000 defectors from other political parties into the PDP.

While promising to give the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC, a good fight at the 2015 elections, the Chairman said that the PDP remains a party to beat in the state and in Nigeria in general.

The defectors, including a former member of the State House of Assembly were drawn from the 16 wards of the Local Government, and according to the leader of the group, Oluwo Asade, they have decided to join the PDP after an unfair treatment by the ruling party, APC, in the state.

Handing the party’s flag and symbol to the defectors before the State Executive Council of the party and party faithful, the State Chairman, Mr Bayo Dayo charged them to be committed to the ideals and principles of the party.

He went further to deny any planned merger of the party with the Labour Party, as being speculated in some quarters in the state in preparation for the 2015 general elections.

As part of the efforts to reposition the party for victory in 2015, the party announced Thursday March 6, as commencement date for the registration of its members.
