obasanjoA former Nigerian president, Olusegun Obasanjo, has called for change of policies and techniques of actualisation in order to achieve excellence in the socio-economic and political development of the continent through adequate infrastructural development

The former president spoke on Monday in Abeokuta, the Ogun State capital, while declaring open the third International Conference on Infrastructure Development in Africa held at the international conference centre of the Olusegun Obasanjo presidential library

The former president also charged leaders to create a platform for development of infrastructure that addresses Africa’s environmental challenges through researches and development.

“Without adequate infrastructural development, the much desired socio-economic development would be effort in futility but was quick to call for a change of tactics,” Obasanjo said.

The three-day conference brought together researchers, development partners from United States, United Kingdom and African countries to address the infrastructural deficit and environmental sustainability of the continent for socio economic growth and development

Effective public-private partnership has been identified as a major means of effectively achieving the much desired development.

It is believed that decisions reached here will be translated to real infrastructural development of the continent from its current challenges
