Members of the Academic Staff Union Of Universities, ASUU, of Olabisi Onabanjo University, OOU, Ogun State, have embarked on a work to rule over alleged irregularities in the payment of salaries.
The lecturers, during a peaceful demonstration at the premises of the university in Ago Iwoye, alleged poor funding of the state owned university named after the first civilian governor of the state, Chief Olabisi Onabanjo.
Armed with placards with various inscriptions, they were unanimous in their decision to effect a work to rule over the irregular payment of salary, heavy taxation and other factors affecting quality of teaching and learning in the institution.
The situation, however, was acknowledged by the school authorities, as the Vice Chancellor, Professor Saburi Adesanya, sued for peace and understanding, saying that the plights of the agitating lecturers were being addressed.
Addressing the lecturers, Professor Adesanya, appealed for understanding, saying that the university was undergoing a critical situation.
