table tennisThe organizers of the 2014 U-17 National Table Tennis Championship have announced that this year’s edition will focus on achieving youth empowerment through education and sports.

Development was cited as essential for youths in their quest to secure a rewarding future and officials of the tournament believe good education will complement the inherent skills and talents in them.

According to former Table Tennis player, Toyin Okenla-Ojeaga, the dream is to provide a good environment where athletes would not only participate in sports but also get education that will aid them to do better things in life.

“I hope it will have a positive impact on the youths participating at the event. I also hope it will inspire and stimulate others to think about ways to assist in nurturing our youths and lead them to the right path in life” Okenla-Ojeaga concluded.

The national U-17 Table Tennis tournament will serve on Monday the 24th of March and end Saturday the 29th at the Molade Okonya-Thomas hall of the Teslim Balogun Stadium.

Seven events made up of team, singles and doubles will be competed for at the one week competition.
