governor_ibrahim_gaidamThe Yobe State government has committed the sum of 2.5 billion Naira to equipping the newly constructed 200 bed capacity hospital in Damaturu the state capital.

Governor Ibrahim Gaidam, who revealed this during an inspection visit to the hospital in Damaturu, said equipment had already been procured and would soon be installed for the purpose intended.

He said the government embarked on the construction of an additional hospital in an effort to complement the existing specialists’ hospital also in Damaturu.

The new hospital, according to the governor, will apart from handling referral cases across the state and beyond will also serve as College of Medical Sciences for the state owned university.

He also inspected the doctors and nurses quarters undergoing construction and revealed that his administration will provide a conducive atmosphere for health workers across the state.

The governor who also visited the specialists’ hospital to inspect progress of expansion works on the hospital, and further stated that it would also be equipped with state of the art facilities befitting of a modern hospital so as to effectively tackle health cases across the state.

Mr Ibrahim Gaidam said his administration’s desire to venture into another hospital in the state capital is to curb with the growing population and health needs of the people.

He said government would effectively equip and fund the two hospitals with latest facilities that would improve the standard of health of the people across the state and beyond.

He appreciated the efforts of the state Ministry of Health for the effective supervision of the construction works going on in the two hospitals and praised the various contractors for a job well done.

The state commissioner of health, Dr. Mohammed Bello Kawuwa, who took the governor round the two hospitals says the ministry will work assiduously towards actualising the worthy health policies of the Gaidam’s administration.

They also visited the school of nursing and midwifery also in Damaturu and stressed that the required structures would be provided in the school in order to meet the requirement of the nursing council.
