The People’s Democratic Party (PDP) and the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Edo State have both appealed the judgement delivered by the Edo State Local Government Election Petition Tribunal on the Esan North East LG election.
The tribunal had last month granted the first of the two prayers of the PDP candidate who had asked the court to declare the election null and void and to declare him the valid winner of the polls.
After three elections and the judgement of the Local Government election Petition tribunal, both parties are not satisfied with the judgement and have appealed the judgement.
At the resumed hearing of the electoral malpractice case between the State and Mr Joe Okogie, the principal witness of the State Commander, Mopol 2 Lagos, CSP Patrick Ejiedawe, who arrested the defendant said he lacks confidence in the lawyer provided him by the State.
Esan North East LGA, one out of the 18 Local Government Areas has become a battle ground of Supremacy tussle between the PDP and the APC.
Election has held thrice and the last one nullified by the court with pending cases of electoral malpractice.
The case has been adjourned to the 3rd of April 2014.
