WarriThe Delta State Committee on Environment has flagged-off cleanliness exercise in Warri.

Members of the Committee, made up of the State Deputy Governor as Chairman, all state commissioners and special advisers to the Governor converged at Enerhen Junction in Warri as early as 6:00am, to flag off the exercise of ensuring cleanliness across the state.

The Deputy Governor, Professor Amos Utuama, who flagged off the exercise in Warri, said that the exercise had commenced in Warri North, Warri South and Uvwie Local Government before moving to all local governments of the state.

According to him, the move was to restore environmental order in the three Warri local governments, as well as to ensure the removal and clearing of illegal structures, markets, and dump sites.

He said that the move was to ensure cleanliness in a bid to attract investors to the state and further consolidate on the ‘Delta Beyond Oil’ initiative of Governor Emmanuel Uduaghan, as he warned that any individual or body who violates the new initiative of the State Government would face prosecution.

Shortly after the flag-off, the committee commenced with the removal of illegal structures.

Some members of the Committee, Commissioner of Information, Chike Ogeah and the Commissioner of Environment, Frank Omare, commented on the development.
