Willie Obiano1The governor of Anambra State, Willie Obiano, has disclosed plans to develop some of the tourist sites in the state, to attract tourists, investors and generate revenue for the State.

During an inspection tour of the 1.8-billion Naira Agulu Lake Resort Project, the governor said other tourism sites including the Ogbunike Cave would be developed to set Anambra on the path of development and improved economy.

On arrival at the Agulu lake resort in Agulu, Anaocha Local Government Area, the governor inspected the ongoing project which started in April, 2013, during Mr Peter Obi’s administration and awarded at a sum of 1.8 billion Naira to ensure completion.

Tourists who visit the Agulu Lake on completion of the beautification project by the government would be accommodated at the 133-room resort.

The governor expressed satisfaction after inspecting the quality of work done on the project and said such expertise should be replicated in other projects of the state government across the state.

He also announced his intention to commence the resuscitation of all the tourism sites in the state, as they will give the state an edge in internal revenue generation as well as help attract investors to develop the state through establishment of other businesses.

He insisted that the war which had been declared on criminal elements in the state would not stop, as “security is the only thing that encourages a good business environment and attracts investors”.

The governor further inspected the 4.6 billion Naira road project across the lake which has two bridges and commended the quality of the work done.

He rounded off the tour by felicitating with the people of Agulu who gathered to welcome him and to urge him to see to the completion of the biggest project in their community which is expected  to be completed in August.
