Chelsea title bid comes alive with City defeat

Andre Villas-Boas’ Chelsea came alive last night with the 2-1 defeat of Manchester City igniting their chances of contending for the the English Premiership Title.

Chelsea now Seven points behind league leaders; Manchester City and five points behind Red Devils Manchester United, Villas-Boas believe is that the Stamford Bridge club is back to contest the title stronger than ever.

Meanwhile,for the first time in the new season; Chelsea made it their duty to hand Manchester City their first defeat after 15 league games undefeated.

After so much tantrums and speculations of a sack due to dismal performance from Villas-Boas,Chelsea’s turnaround started after their impressive win and also emerging group leaders in the Champions League thereby qualifying for the knockout stages.

Many thanks will go to Raul Meireles and a Frank Lampard spotkick after Gael Clichy was sent off for a professional foul in the 83rd minute as City played with 10-men against a compete Chelsea squad.

“Every team in the English premier League has been tagged as hot contenders for the title and it makes our seven points unimportant because no team is a workover” he said.

Villas-Boas stated that for Chelsea to still be in contention they really need to continue with their recent form found plus notching their game up will put them in a better position.

Manchester City went a goal up early in the game with a Mario Balotelli stunt but was cancelled by a 34th minute strike by Meireles before the penalty in the 83rd minute taken carefully by Frank Lampard.

Although Man. City Manager manager; Roberto Mancini said he cannot be distracted by a defeat and he is focused on his goal of claiming the title.

Mancini confirmed Balotelli would not be punished for breaching a club curfew two days before the game as against speculations that City has discipline problem.
