President Ouattara
President Alassane Ouattara’s RDR has claimed the most seats in the parliamentary elections which ended in Ivory Coast.

While the allied PDCI won like 77 seats, the president’s party claimed just under half to have a large majority.

This was the first poll since the capture of fomer president of the country Laurent Gbagbo although his party boycotted the polls as Gbagbo is awaiting trial in the Hague.

Some 3,000 people were killed before Mr Gbagbo was detained by pro-Ouattara forces, backed by the UN and France, in April.

He refused to accept defeat in last year’s presidential election, sparking five months of violence.

He is accused of being an “indirect co-perpetrator” of murder, rape, persecution and other inhuman acts.
