Four security agents were killed in the Yobe state capital of Damaturu after a roadside bomb detonated near a military vehicle, witnesses say.
They reported that the blast happened on Thursday afternoon and according to an account by the local police commissioner, police and military officials had been involved in a gun battle with the attackers.
According to the Associated Press, no one has stepped forward to claim responsibility for the attacks.
Damaturu was the site of the heavy November 4 attacks carried out by dreaded Islamic sect Boko Haram, which claimed over 100 lives.
