Several persons were injured, property destroyed and shops looted, as hoodlums infiltrated the protest in Edo state led by the NLC and other unions in the state against the removal of the fuel subsidy.
The State governor, Adams Oshiomhole who addressed protesters in Benin the Edo state capital, appealed to labour to ensure that those with ulterior motives do not seize the opportunity to play up ethnic, religious and political sentiments, thereby distorting the message of the protest.
