6,000 Illegal Refineries Detroyed by JTF

The Joint Military Task force has destroyed over 6,000 illegal refineries across the Niger Delta and also impounded four barges and five ships.

The JTF Spokesman, Lt. Col. Timothy Antigha, disclosed this while handing over seven suspected oil thieves and five trucks to the Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corps in Port Harcourt at the weekend.

The suspects were arrested with five trucks loaded with illegally refined petroleum products at water lines in Port Harcourt and Oyigbo local government area also in Rivers state.

They are alleged to be among the people selling substandard petroleum products.
Lt. Col. Antigha who listed the suspects as Babayo Dauda, Mohammed Abdullahi, Bukar Alima, Jeremah Umaru, Ali Salisu, Ibrahim Abdullahi and Ikechukwu Ukaegbu, stated that the jtf will hand over the suspects to the National Security and Civil Defence Corps for further investigations and prosecution.
