The Oyo state governor, Abiola Ajimobi has charged the contractor handling the upgrade and expansion of Lagos/Ibadan Expressway to expedite action and resume on site in earnest.

Gov. Ajimobi gave the charge in his office in Ibadan while receiving the chairman and management team of Bi-Courtney Constructions who paid him a visit.

He assured the company that an active Private Partnership initiative would be enlisted between the state government and Bi-Courtney in relevant areas to ensure sustainability. “We are exploring ways of partnering with your company in areas of infrastructure development under a public-private partnership (PPP) arrangement,’’ the governor said.

Ajimobi added that the no of productive lives lost to the seemingly unending carnage on the road makes it imperative for urgent but calculated measures to set things right once and for all.

He assured that his company is set to partner with the state as intense deliberations are ongoing with the ministry of works& promised constant interactions with all stakeholders.

Earlier, Babalakin had commended the governor for the support he had given to his company in its task of reconstructing the expressway, assuring that construction works on the road would commence very soon.

Babalakin, who expressed regret over the initial challenges his company had confronted, hoped that when completed, the road would be one of the best in Africa.
