Speaking from his London location, Tinubu chalked the rumours up to political ploys from his opponents. Also denying the news, the Action Congress of Nigeria joined their voices in debunking rumours that the ACN front man had been flown to England on 8 February for immediate treatmen after suffering a partial stroke.

The Publicity Secretary of ACN, Lagos State chapter, Mr Joe Igbowke described the news of Tinubu’s ill-health as figment of imagination of those that originated and peddle it.

He said; “as I’ m talking to you now, Asiwaju, is hale and hearty, there is no cause for alarm whatsoever. I wish to therefore, assure you that our able and agile leader, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu will live long to fulfil all his wishes and dreams before the very eyes of all”.

Igbowkwe urged Nigerians to disregard the news, claiming it was perpetrated by Tinubu’s detractors who were apparently uncomfortable with his rising profile and see him as a big threat to their ambitions.

An associate of Tinubu told reporters, “I can confirm that the Blackberry messages and online postings alleging that he is paralyzed and was flown out of the country some days ago are false and sponsored by detractors who wants him out of circulation.”
