The first round of the National Immunization plus days set aside to strengthen the fight against polio in Nigeria have been scheduled to run between
February 18th -21st 2012, in all the 36 states and the federal capital territory.
The immunization plus days allow vaccinators to go from house to house, so as to bring the polio vaccine closer to eligible children who may not have been exposed to the vaccine at the routine immunization level.
As at December, 2011 a total of 47 wild polio virus cases where recorded in 8 states mostly in the Northern parts of Nigeria.
