Judi Dench battles with blindness

The James Bond star actress, Judi Dench is currently battling with blindness, she admits that she has been diagnosed with “Macular Degeneration”.

Macular Degeneration-an eye condition which may lead to blindness. Dench’s sight is bad that she can’t read her own script .

She said in a statement ‘’It’s usually my daughter, my agent or friend that helps in reading my scripts and actually I like that, because I sit there and imagine the story in my mind. The most distressing thing is in a restaurant in the evening I can’t see the person I’m having dinner with’’

Dench made her professional debut in 1957 with the Old Vic Company. Over the following years she played in several of William Shakespeare’s plays in such roles as Ophelia in Hamlet, Juliet in Romeo and Juliet and Lady Macbeth in Macbeth.

Her movie appearances were infrequent until she was casted as M in GoldenEye (1995), where She stared as the leader of the British intelligence agency’s boss in the James Bond movie.

A role she has played in each James Bond film since.

She received several notable movie awards for her role as Queen Victoria in Mrs. Brown (1997), and has since been acclaimed for her work in movies such as Shakespeare in Love (1998), Chocolat (2000), Iris (2001), Mrs Henderson Presents (2005) and Notes on a Scandal (2006).

Judi was also involved in the television production The Last of the Blonde Bombshells (2001).
