The on-going dispute over yellow fever documentation which has led to the deportation of several West African passengers with Nigeria having the highest number of deportees and some denied entry or detained on the grounds that the yellow cards were either faked or not possessed.
This line of action prompted Arik air to suspend temporarily its daily B737-800 flight services Lagos, Nigeria and Johannesburg, South Africa with immediate effect.
Port Health authorities claimed that in recent months the yellow cards shown carry incorrect or unrecognised batch numbers as passenger were supposed to tender the documentation before entry. Due to this new development, 50 passengers who travelled on Arik Air on March 2 were denied entry.
Arik air said it is an iregular nature of the protocol and it is having a negative impact on its service and passengers and this has made it suspend its operation into the country.
