A 33-year-old commercial driver, Quadri Kasali, was on Thursday arraigned before the Magistatre court in Lagos, for attempting to kill a serving Lagos High Court Judge, Justice Adeniyi Adebajo by deliberately hitting the judge with his car on the high way.

Mr Kasali was arraigned before Chief Magistrate M.A Ladipo of the Magistrate Court, for deliberately hitting the judge with a vehicle on the 1st of March 2012.

According to the plaintiff-the Nigerian Police Force-, the defendant, who was said to be driving a commercial Bus on Thursday the 1st of March at about 2.20pm along Moloney Street, Lagos Island, allegedly hit Justice Adebajo with the vehicle with intent to kill him.

The Police alleged that the accused hit the judge three times with the commercial bus, with registration number XA 242 KLK, trying to run him over after the judge challenged him over his manner of driving and for obstructing other road users.

The judge was said to have sustained severe injury on his right arm.

Mr Kasali pleaded not guilty to the one count which is contrary to and punishable under section 228(2) of Criminal Code, Laws of Lagos State of Nigeria 2011.

The Magistrate ordered that the accused person be remanded in prison & subsequently adjourned till the 3rd of April.
