The 23 Armoured Brigade in Yola, Adamawa state have dissociated itself from the Monday killings of six youths from Yelwa community in Mubi area of Adamawa state.

The army, in a statement by the brigade’s Public Relations Officer, Lieutenant Victor Olukoya said they are law abiding citizens who will always uphold the constitution of the country and will not engage in extra judiciary killing that will dent the name of the institution and the nation at large.

He also dismissed speculations that the army and police formation in the state are not in good terms and insisted that the relationship between the two forces has always been collaborative and cordial.

There had been media reports as well as insinuations by residents of Mubi that soldiers said to be members of the patrol team from the 23 Armoured Brigade were responsible for the killing of six persons found in a suburb of Yelwa in Mubi.

Business activities in the state has however resumed with banks closing by 2pm just as security operatives continue to patrol major streets of the town.
