The University of Port Harcourt sports complex in Rivers state will host the first leg of the 2012 Athletic Federation of Nigeria (AFN) Golden league scheduled for this weekend.
Events listed for scoring in the men’s category include 100m, 200m, 400m, 1,500m, 5,000m, 110m hurdles, triple jump, high jump, shot put, 20km walk race and the relays.
In the women’s category, there are the 100m, 200m, 400m, 300m, 400m hurdles, long jump, high jump, javelin, hammer, 20km walk race and the relays events.
AFN assistant secretary Rita Akande, confirmed that only the top four athletes in all the categories would proceed to the next stage of the league while the rest will be from the all-come that will precede the main events of the two-day athletics fiesta.
