30 burnt to death in Adamawa fire

30 people burnt to death, while several others were badly injured in a tanker fire that occurred Sunday evening  at Gani Gaku in Demsa Local Government Area,  Adamawa State.

Eyewitnesses say the victims were trying to scoop petrol from a tanker that fell and spilled its contents, stating that it was while carrying out the act that an explosion occurred which resulted in the outburst of fire.

The burnt bodies have been deposited at the General Hospital, Numan mortuary and confirmed by medical officials while the  injured victims are currently been treated at the Specialist Hospital in Yola.

The state Police spokesman, Nemuel Yoila, confirmed the disaster saying “we are aware and we are investigating” but he declined to give further information.
