Activities at Lagos state government owned hospitals may soon come to a halt as doctors on the government’s payroll have threatened to embark on a 3-day warning strike.

At a media briefing, the chairman of the medical guild Dr Olumuyiwa Odusote said the strike is to press home the doctors’ demand for the implementation of the Consolidated Medical Salary Structure (CONMESS) reached with the government, months ago.

It would be recalled that in August and September of 2010 and February 2011 the doctors withdrew their services over the non-implementation of the CONMESS agreement and what the association describes as excessive taxation by the state government.
