The 23rd Armoured Brigade in Yola Adamawa state has sanctioned four of its officers for high-handiness and ill-treatment meted on a female gunrunner who was caught in the southern senatorial area of the state hiding four guns in a sack of gari.

Commander of the brigade, Brigadier General John Nwoaga said based on reported allegations leveled against the four affected soldiers, the command to investigate the conduct of the soldiers and how they extracted information from the arrested female gunrunner and were indicted for various unprofessional offenses which he said are punishable in line with the military rules.

He reiterated that the military is committed to safeguarding the rule of law and also uphold its constitutional obligation adding that act s of high-handedness and undue use of force by soldiers will not be tolerated.

Nwoaga warned soldiers under the command to desist from any act that will tarnish the image of the military among the civilian which they are out to protect.
