The Minister of Education, Professor Ruqayyatu Rufai has announced that Nigeria is set to host over 270 delegates and education ministers of the 54 member states of the African Union in Abuja, next week.

Professor Rufai who made the announcement at a news conference disclosed on Friday, said that the fifth ordinary session of the Conference of Ministers of the African Union (COMEDAFU) approved by President Jonathan, will deliberate on global regional and sub-regional development and seek ways of addressing them.

According to the Minister, the conference will open another window for investment and viable economic activities.

The Minister noted that the conference is set to position African higher education as a driver for social and economic development and the attainment of Africa’s collective educational vision.

She also noted that the international event is coming at a time when the country’s educational sector is experiencing huge transformation.
