President Goodluck Jonathan has called on members the ruling People’s Democratic Party (PDP) to put the just concluded party convention behind, close ranks and work together.

He made the statement last night when he hosted the new executives of the PDP led by Alhaji Bamanga Tukur to a dinner in the Presidential Villa.

The president pledged to work harmoniously with the new National Working Committee of the party in the interest of Nigeria.

He also insisted that the party should discipline any member who goes contrary to the rules of the game no matter the office he is holding, including the presidency, adding that “no one in superior to the party.”

The 2012 national convention of the PDP was criticized by many over what they called its undemocratic nature.

The occasion was attended by prominent party leaders including the first chairman of the board of trustees Chief Solomon Lar and the chairman of the convention committee of the just concluded national convention Chief Ojo Maduekwe. They call for patriotism at all times.

The new chairman of the party however said “ideas are what will be needed to reposition the PDP”.

The chairman pledged that his team will not disappoint the  party and prayed for the continued peace and progress of the nation.
