The Director General of The National Orientation Agency, Mr. Mike Omeri has asked media organizations in the country not to be deterred by Thursday’s attacks on media houses in Abuja and Kaduna.

Mister Omeri described the role of the media as sacred stressing that without an informed and educated society, civilization will take a reverse route.

In a press statement signed by the agency’s chief press secretary, Mr. Paul Odenyi said that the reason why the sole reason why the media is being attacked by members of the Islamic sect is to give the impression that all is not well in the country.

He however asked management of the ThisDay newspapers to use the opportunity of the incident to reflect on the style of reporting violence and terrorism in the country.
