The Save Nigeria Group (SNG) on Monday vowed to organise another round of public demonstrations across the country if the Federal Government does not take concrete steps towards the prosecution of all those indicted in the subsidy probe report of the House of Representatives.

Addressing a media briefing in Lagos, the convener of the SNG, Tunde Bakare commended the House of Representatives for doing a good job and announced that the group has given the government a two weeks deadline to see all those indicted by the probe committee to be prosecuted “failing which we shall be calling people out for protest” Mr Bakare said.

He noted that given the low confidence Nigerians have in the government’s anti-corruption crusade, he therefore called for the appointment of a private prosecutor to deal with the prosecution.

Other demands made by the group are:

-Probe of alleged overpayment by the NNPC

-Probe the former governor of Gombe state who was a former Accountant General

-Probe of PDP Finances

-Probe of Petroleum and Finance Ministries with specific probe of former Minister of finance; Olusegun Aganga and Musur Muhktar

-Probe of the 2012 budget on subsidy

Present at the news conference were Nobel laureate, Professor Wole Soyinka, and the president, Campaign for Democracy (CD) Joe Odumakin

The group had earlier in the year called a massive protest across major cities in the nation against the removal of fuel sudsidy.
