What will you do if you woke up one morning and discovered that your wife/husband of five years does not recognize you or remember the last five years spent with you?

That is exactly what happened in the romantic and mouth watering movie ‘the vow’ which was released on february 14, 2012.

The Vow tells the story of a young married couple who experience a devastating car accident while returning home from a movie. The young man, Leo (Channing Tatum)  tries re-wooing his wife, Paige (Rachel McAdams) after the horrific accident that left her with no memory of him or the five years spent together. The last thing she does remember is attending law school and being engaged to another man named Jeremy (Scott Speedman).

All through the movie, Leo despite all the manner of rejection from Paige, trouble from Paige’s parents and a downturn at the recording studio he runs, dedicated himself to the proposition that, “I’ve got to make my wife fall in love with me again.”

As the movie unfolds, Leo is faced with either holding on to his wife who no longer remembers who he is or let her go back to the only life she can remember.

Much of the movie is spent with Leo trying to rekindle the spark that initially led his wife to fall in love with him in the first place and more importantly stick to the vow he made to her on their wedding day “I vow to fiercely love you and all your forms now and forever. I promise never to forget this is a once in a lifetime love … and no matter what challenges carry us apart we’ll always find a way back to each other”.

The Vow is certainly a great movie, thanks to the intrigue of the premise, and the mystery of how Leo and Paige will find their way back to each other. However the director of the movie spent so much time on the extra drama manufactured out of Paige’s memory loss, when all we really want to see is a love story to get swept up in.

Watching Tatum and Mc Adams play each other was a part of the movie that kept me going, besides Tatum was particularly sympathetic. He was sympathetic in the sense that; Paige was the one suffering from the trauma of loss of memory but it was more difficult watching Leo suffer as the love of his life slipped away in favor of the life she actually remembered (the life before she met him). At the end of the day, ‘the vow’ movie leaves you wanting more, that is, to care more, to cry more, to love more…

The 104 minutes movie cast crew comprises Rachel McAdams, Channing Tatum, San Neill, Scott Speedman, Wendy Crewson, Jessica Lange, Jessica McNanee, Tatiana Maslany and Lucas Bryant.  The DVD and Blu-ray will be released May 8, 2012 and can be pre-ordered through Amazon.com.
