President Goodluck Jonathan has called on civil servants to cooperate with political office holders to ensure that government policies and programmes are carried out without prejudice.

The president was speaking before the Federal Executive Council (FEC) meeting on Wednesday, while swearing in a new Minister, Alhaji Inua Abdulkadir from Sokoto.

Also sworn in was the new chairman of the Federal Civil Service Commission, Deaconess Joan Ayo, as well as six new federal commissioners.

He criticised the practice where civil servants perpetuate actions that are inimical to the progress of government policies and called on them to work hard to bring back the glory that used to be in the civil service.

President Jonathan said no matter how pragmatic a president or minister may be, when the civil servants that are supposed to carry out government policies do not flow with him, the country will remain stagnant.
