The Congress for Progressive Change (CPC) on Thursday sacked its National Executive Committee (NEC).

The forum of state chairmen insisted that Muhammadu Buhari remains the party’s leader.

This was the unanimous decision at the emergency forum of state Chairmen of the party in Abuja who met and issued a vote of no confidence on the NEC of the party.

In a communique read by the head of the forum, Emeka Okafor, the CPC state Chairmen blamed the problems of the party on what they described as the ineffective and selfish leadership of the NEC.

The suspended officials include the hitherto board of trustees member Sule Yahaya Hamma, the National Chairman, Prince Tony Momoh, Deputy National Chairman, Mustapha Saliu and National Secretary, Buba Galadima.

The post-election violence after the April 2011 general elections and inability to lead the party away from conflict are some of the faults listed against the national leadership.

The forum of state chairmen however insisted that Muhammadu Buhari remains the party’s leader.
