Jonathan in emergency Security Council meeting

President Goodluck Jonathan swiftly summoned an emergency security council meeting in the presidential villa as soon as he arrived from Brazil on Friday.

The meeting is on-going now.

In attendance at the meeting are the Vice President, Architect Namadi Sambo, all the service chiefs and the Minister of Defence, Mohammed Bello Haliru, the Ministers of Police Affairs, Minister of Interior and that of Foreign Affairs.

It is believed that meeting was summoned to discuss the security of Kaduna and Yobe states, following the series of attacks and violence that raged the cities, earlier in the week.

The president who arrived at the presidential villa at about three o’clock hurriedly convened the meeting.

Speaking to state house correspondents after the meeting which lasted for about three hours, the Minister of Police Affairs, Retired Navy Captain Caleb Olubolade and the National Security Adviser, Retired General Owoye Azazi said that the security situation in the country is under control and that it was important to brief the president as well as give him an update on his return.
