President Goodluck Jonathan on Monday presided over an emergency session with the nation’s security chiefs at the Presidential Villa, Abuja.

Sources say the meeting may not be unconnected with the current challenge of insecurity in parts of the country with the latest killings in Jos over the weekend, which reportedly claimed over 100 lives top of the issues discussed.

The meeting lasted over three hours.

At the end of the meeting, the security chiefs shunned reporters who had eagerly waited for the outcome of the meeting.

When asked about the killing of Senator Dangtong Dalyop in the Jos killings on Sunday, the NSA responded, “Is that what happened? No, that was not what happened” he said as he made his way into his jeep and shut the door on the reporters.

The NSA forced his way through the barrage of journalists who tried to question him about the meeting, entered his waiting car and zoomed off.

The meeting was also attended by Vice President Namadi Sambo, the Minister of State for Defence, Erelu Olusola Obada; the Chief of Army Staff, Lt.-Gen. Azubuike Ihejirika; the Chief of Naval Staff, Vice-Admiral Ola Ibrahim and the Chief of Air Staff, Air Marshal Mohammed Umar.

The Ministers of Police Affairs, Caleb Olubolade and Interior, Mr Abba Moro; the Acting Inspector-General of Police, Mr. Muhammed Abubakar and the Director-General, State Security Service, Mr. Ita Ekpenyong also attended the meeting.
