Business activities in Ilorin, the Kwara state capital was recently disrupted following a demonstration embarked upon by commercial motorcyclists in the state against government policy banning them from plying certain routes in the state capital.

The demonstration which lasted for about six hours started peacefully, but later turned violent as the angry protesters blocked major roads in the metropolis, causing series of traffic gridlocks.

The headquarters of the state road traffic management agency was attacked in the process, with the windows of some of its offices smashed, while a number of its operation vehicles were vandalized.

Meanwhile, the special adviser to the governor on transport and the state police public relations officer, who confirmed the arrest of some of the protesters, said they will be charged to court.
