The Police in Bauchi State have intensified patrol in the metropolis in its effort to check crime and criminality during the forthcoming Sallah celebration.

The Assistant Superintendent of Police Inspector (ASP), Mohammed Hassan, who disclosed this to journalists on Wednesday, said that the command was taking all necessary measures to tackle crimes.

He said other strategies were also been put in place in order to make sure that crime was curtailed in the city.

Hassan  further said it was a routine exercise for the command to always make security preparations during festivals.

Also, the Plateau state police commissioner, Emmanuel Ayeni has stressed the importance of obeying constituted authority and respecting collective agreement in order to avoid any act that can lead to crisis as experienced during last year’s celebrations as people defied orders not to attend prayers in a particular location.

As part of precautionary measures to avoid a repeat of last year’s mayhem during the Eid el Fitr celebrations where worshippers were attacked along Rukkuba road and the reprisal attacks that followed, leading to a breakdown of law and order. The Deputy commander of the special task force, Assistant Commissioner of Police, Umaru Miringa appealed to worshippers to avoid anything that would lead to loss of lives as such celebrations should not be associated with violence.
