The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has released its ‘3 Option’ implementation guide’ ahead of the 2013 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME).

The board stated this in a statement by its Public Relations Officer, Mr Tim Oyedeji, in Lagos on Thursday.

It noted that the development was in line with its proposed Computer Based Testing (CBT) regime.

The board said that the ‘3-Option’ guide which would address the fears of its candidates was “carefully conceived”.

It said that the guide would run side by side with the CBT.

“In this case DBT referred to as “Dibu Based Testing”, questions will be presented on computer and the answers printed on the Optical Mark Reader (OMR) sheets.

“Candidates can then move over from one question to another or back to previous questions, the system also allows them to skip a question and then return to it later on.

“The two former options would naturally precede the full blown Computer Based Testing (CBT), which is the third”, the statement said.

It said that the 3-option guide would be fully integrated into UTME in two years time.

On Post-UTME tertiary institutions, the board explained that the management was handling it with caution.

“We are just a part of the whole but with continued positive steps in the direction of making UTME more credible, the agitators of Post-UTME will soon come to terms with reality,” the statement said.
