The Ahmadu Bello Memorial Foundation has donated relief materials to victims of flood disaster in Plateau state with assurance that other affected areas in the country will also benefit from the foundation.

Leading the foundation board members to Jos, the state capital, former justice of the court of appeal, Justice Mamman Nasir said that the relief materials were part of the contributions of the north to assist the flood ravaged communities not only in Plateau state but also in other parts of the country in relation to late Sir Ahmadu Bello’s vision of unity in the country.

The foundation as the board members embarked on visits to the various communities affected within the state, starting with the capital Jos.

Chairman, Advisory Council of the Foundation, Justice Nasir expressed the foundation’s concern on the disaster effect on the citizens of the state, hence the decision to donate the materials to supplement government efforts.

Former Chief of Army Staff and Board Member, Lieutenant General Salihu Ibrahim (Rtd) explained the mission of the foundation and urged people of the state to remain united and promote cordial relationship irrespective of religion or political affiliations.

Receiving the materials on behalf of the government and people of Plateau state, Secretary to the State Government, Professor Shedrack Best recalled that the incessant crisis in the state, noting that it has become a big challenge to the north and pleaded that the state should not be left alone but to be aided in its effort to bring an end to the violence.

Items donated include mattresses, blankets, wrappers for men and women, consumables as well as toiletries for victims that were affected in some parts of and southern part of the state.
