The stage is now set for the 8th Obudu International Mountain Race billed for tomorrow, Saturday the 17th of November 2012 at the Obudu ranch resort, Obudu in Cross River state. 

The chairman of the local organizing committee; Sir William Archibong revealed this at the world press conference at the ranch on Friday.

According to Sir Archibong, contestants from over 10 countries will be taking part in this year’s event which will be used to test run the 2014 World Mountain Running Championship to be hosted for the first time in Africa at the same venue.

Channels TV Senior Sports Correspondent, Joe Ighile reports that the 8th edition will witness significant changes and innovations as new routes have been designed for the race through the mountain bush.

The men’s race will come a distance of 12km, while women’s race will go over 8km in keeping with international running standard.

Preparations are already in top gear to host a successful event.
