President Goodluck Jonathan has again refused to disclose whether or not he would contest the 2015 presidential election insisting that it was too early to discuss the issue.
Speaking during a media chat televised by Channels Television on Sunday, the president said:“It is too early to talk about contesting in 2015 or not.”
“Four years is a very short time to make an impact. Give me some time to make sure that myself and my cabinet work. I don’t want to distract myself and my government. Wait until 2014 before asking that question,” President Jonathan said.
The president said he is not worried about the performance of the ruling party as “the PDP family is strong and waxing stronger.”
He said he is hopeful that despite losing some states to opposition parties, once the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) “put our house in order” it will win back those states.
Recall that the ruling party, PDP was defeated in the governorship elections in Imo, Edo and recently in Ondo state.
