No Nigerian footballer is among the final shortlist for the 2012 CAF African Footballer of the year award.

The Confederation of African Football (CAF) instead unveiled Ghana’s Andre Ayew, Cameroon’s Alex Song, Senegal’s Demba Ba and Ivorian duo of Didier Drogba and Yaya Toure for the award.

The final nominees were decided by votes from the head coaches and technical directors of the football associations affiliated to CAF.

The final event to announce the winner will be held on December 20 at the State Banquet Hall in Accra, Ghana.

Meanwhile the Confederation of African Football (CAF) has announced that January 9th 2013 has been set as the deadline for the submission of final squad list for the African Nations Cup.

CAF confirmed that the final 23-man squad must be sent to the organisation’s Cairo headquarters by midnight Wednesday, 9th January.

All 16 finalists are entitled to have a 23-man squad and a delegation of a further 17 officials

CAF Secretary General, Hicham Amrani warned that any list sent late will see the countries being fined and a player subtracted from their list.
